TWITCH

2020 - PRESENT

Initially, as a designer focused on search experiences, I ensured viewers find what they are looking for. Now as a discovery lead, my expanded scope encompasses designing for moments when viewers aren't sure what they want.

While the specifics are bound by nondisclosure agreements, here are some glimpses of the things I have designed.

↪ Interaction design

Reimagining core Twitch experiences

In 2022, the design team imagined what Twitch might be like in the future, without the constraints of our design system or current tech stack. Instead of following the usual product design process, our group blended speculative design approaches to imagine possibilities beyond the immediate present. Each concept showcased a figma prototype, a code prototype, a label explaining the value proposition along with a fictional product release video.

Touch, hear and feel the future

Instead of decks, we created an interactive pop up exhibition complete with fictional product release videos. We put this up in the kitchen area where folks naturally gather. This didn’t just show case the work but allowed people, including the exec team to touch, hear and feel the future. Insights from our speculative work got woven into our annual roadmap planning and informed an Open letter that our Chief Product Officer and Chief Monetization Officer wrote to the community.

Now, in 2023, I'm leading one of these Zero-to-One initiative – Mobile Discovery Feed.

A feed of personalized and compelling content

Currently designing and bringing a brand new core surface- the discovery feed - to the market. This new experience is helping viewers discover creators by providing entertainment in shorter bursts, with the help of compelling content and recommendations. I have been designing for and with recommendation team to determine what are we recommending, when and why.

Discovery, on your terms

Twitch is live. So Twitch’s content is dynamic and ever-evolving. Customizable Tags capture the emerging content categories and context. They enable streamers and viewers to find each other with their own language. Like all user-generated content, this meant balancing complex safety requirements with a user experience that felt frictionless.

Don’t miss another upcoming stream

Once viewers find their way to a creator and their community, the last thing they want is to miss an update from their channel. With the upcoming section in the following page, viewers can review all the scheduled streams from the channels they follow and set reminders to get notified. This section is full creator personality and, most importantly their emotes! Brought a tricky animation to life.
